Skene Valley Agency was founded in April of 2002 by John Hoagland. John started his insurance career as an independent agent in 1988. He then worked for 6 years at Travelers Insurance as a personal lines underwriter and trainer, then spent 5 years at SAFECO Insurance as an Agency Technology Specialist and Northeast Regional manager. Those 13 years prior to opening his own agency provided valuable experience and insight into the insurance business, allowing him to sit on all sides of the table to gain an understanding and knowledge of what customers need and what companies want to insure.

OUR STAFF

John Hoagland. President and agent. John is involved in all aspects of the business from Sales, to Service, to claims. Currently he is in Whitehall Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays , and in Granville Tuesday and Thursdays.

 Heather Daniels. Heather works in the Whitehall office as a customer service rep.

 Kim Brown. Kim works in the summer months only and is also a Customer Service Rep.

 Candace Hoagland. Candace is a licensed insurance agent and works part time in the Whitehall office.

 Steve Sylvain. Steve is a licensed insurance agent. Presently Steve is working out of an office in Glens Falls as a broker. Steve operates under the name Excelsior Insurance. You can contact Steve at 518-480-4197 or at  excelsioragy@yahoo.com.

WHITEHALL OFFICE 

Located at 76 County Rte 18 in Whitehall, the office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, with the exception of holidays. Evening and weekend appointments are available, just call and we can schedule an appointment. Our Phone number is 518-499-0748. Fax number is 518-499-0422. We can also be reached via e-mail at Skeneagy@verizon.net. Occasionally we are out of the office on appointments with customers, however we have a voice mail system that will answer all calls. Feel free to leave a message and we will return your call the same day  during regular business hours whenever possible, or the next business day if outside of regular business hours.

GRANVILLE OFFICE

Our new location is located at 3 Mettowee St in Granville (in the rear office of the old McHenry Funeral home). This is a satellite office opened in September 2007 to better serve the needs of our current Granville customers and future Granville customers. The office is currently open 2 days a week, Tuesday and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Other times are available by appointment. If you can’t make it to us, We’ll come to you, just call and set up an appointment. The Granville phone number is 518-642-3626 and will automatically ring to the Whitehall office on days the office is closed. Eventually we plan to open 5 days a week as business increases in that office.
